Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can I be guaranteed the Apartment of Education will be available to help my student?

No. Below are a few common accommodations we can make for you:

1) Work together to schedule the next mutually-available time slot whenever it exists.

2) Put you “On Call" for the possibility that a previously occupied time slot becomes available.

3) Put you on our “Wait List” until suitable accommodations may be made for you.

2) Does the Apartment of Education tutor students under the age of 13?

No. In accord with our mission, and in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), our website and services are solely intended for, and available to, individuals 13 years of age and older. In short, we serve high school and college students.

3) Does the Apartment of Education assume custody of my student when providing its services?

No. We do not assume custody of, or liability for, any legal minor and/or student during Private Tutoring Sessions. The legal parent/guardian always, and without exception, remains in full custody of the student during all interactions with our tutors.

4) Does the Apartment of Education send me a recording of the Private Tutoring Session?

No. We email detailed reports of the Private Tutoring Sessions to the parent/guardian. It is strictly prohibited to separately photograph, screenshot, or otherwise record or capture any portion of our Private Tutoring Sessions without our express written consent; with the distinct exception of the whiteboards (Jamboards) containing work done during the Session which we actively encourage students to download and keep. Various legalese has a part in this policy; particularly relating to prohibiting companies from retaining and/or distributing digital assets featuring minors. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy.

5) Does the Apartment of Education help with essays?

Yes. We help show students how to employ the essay structure they are being taught by their primary teacher. We help students understand how to meaningfully compose written works within this structure, as well as outside this structure when appropriate.

*Please be aware this type of tutoring usually entails a longer duration of time, and we strongly recommend booking the 2-Hour Session. Planning, writing and rewriting essays is commonplace with us, which can be very time-consuming.*

6) Does the Apartment of Education grade assignments?

No. Grading assignments is for the primary teacher of your student. We are here to help develop the concepts and academic foundations critical to achieving higher grades over the long-term.

7) Does the Apartment of Education guarantee better grades?

No. We have an excellent track record, but we do not make claims for any student regarding their academic performance, grade, and/or score for any assignment, test, and/or overall class.

8) Can the Apartment of Education provide the correct answers to assignments or tests before they are due?

No. We collaborate through assignments and test preparation by leading the student to discover the correct answers on their own. We can only review correct answers once the assignment or test is already graded and entered by the primary teacher of the student.

*Although our tutors may develop direct relationships with the teachers and/or schools of their students, certain circumstances may require our tutors to rely solely on the honor system regarding whether an assignment or test has actually been graded and entered by the primary teacher. If we ever discover a deliberate untruth or falsehood during an inquiry requiring mutually honest academic integrity, we reserve the right to immediately terminate the Private Tutoring Session, as well as any future Private Tutoring Sessions, for that particular account; without refund or recourse.*

9) Do you tutor Life Science?

We tutor for the Life Sciences, but only as an auxiliary to what we consider to be the primary core of a solid educational foundation - Math and English. We see Social Sciences as an extensive English lesson given the amount of reading and writing within History and Government coursework. We also see extensive Math involved in Economics. In essence, we help with subjects such as Life Sciences, Arts, Electives, Religious Studies, etc., but solely as a smaller part of a larger comprehensive effort to help a given student navigate and address their workload as a whole.

10) Do you tutor Trigonometry and/or Calculus?

We tutor trigonometric algebra and trigonometric geometry. We can attempt to successfully tutor for Trigonometry and Calculus as an auxiliary, but cannot offer the same confidence as with our core tutoring services. Teachers have different styles and steps regarding how their students to go about solving Trigonometry and Calculus problems, throughout high schools and colleges, including but not limited to specific calculators and calculations. This presents uncertainty as we do not expect our tutors to be equipped with all possible calculators, preferences, etc.

11) Can the parent/guardian attend a Private Tutoring Session?

Yes. The legal parent/guardian is welcome to attend, provided they adhere to our Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, and Code of Conduct.

12) Can another student attend the Private Tutoring Session?

No. Every Private Tutoring Session is specifically dedicated to, and tailored for, a single student only. The Google Meet link is private and may not be shared with outside persons or parties.

13) Are Apartment of Education Tutors licensed professionals?

No. Our tutors are not officially certified or licensed to be Academic Advisors, Consultants, Counselors, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Teachers, Therapists, or any other profession. Recommendations, suggestions, and/or any statements made by our tutors are solely and exclusively at the discretion of the legal parent/guardian, and never to be construed as professional or legal advice.

14) Is the Apartment of Education WASC accredited?
